Reliance Jio has opened up registrations for Jio GigaFiber, its direct-to-home high-speed broadband internet service. Since August 15, users across the country have been able to register interest to subscribe for the upcoming broadband internet service from Jio, one of the largest telecom operators in the country. And while the public roll-out is still some months away, details have begun to emerge of what might be in store once Jio GigaFiber goes live.

According to a report by TelecomTalk, Jio GigaFiber could come with an initial preview offer in areas where the service will be active. In order to have a connection installed, users will have to pay Rs 4,500 as a one-time installation fee. This fee will be offset by the preview offer, which will give users 100GB of high-speed internet usage at a speed of 100MBPS per month, for three months. It’s likely that the fee will also include the deposit on the equipment needed, which includes the terminal (the special router needed for the Jio GigaFiber service) and the Jio GigaTV set-top box.

If the 100GB of data is exhausted, customers will have the option to use data top-ups, according to the report. These top-ups will offer an additional 40GB of data, although it isn’t clear how much these top-ups will cost. It is believed that Jio will give users free top-ups during the preview period, up to 25 top-ups per month during the preview period. Once the preview offer is over, users will have to subscribe to paid monthly plans or can opt to discontinue the service.
